Thomas Danforth III 6 1/8" Pewter Plate, ca. 1800



A good 6-1/8" plate by Thomas Danforth III of Rocky Hill Connecticut and Philadelphia Pennsylvania, 1777-1820. Marked with his circular eagle initialed mark (J-118). TD III worked in both Connecticut as well as Philadelphia Pennsylvania. While in Connecticut, TD III trained several 19th pewterers, including Ashbil Griswold and Samuel Kilbourne.


In very good overall condition with expected wear and some light pitting. This plate is from the early Connecticut mold. Ex Breininger collection.
