Thomas Clark Cast Iron Porringer, ca. 1839-1870

An excellent 1-1/2 pint capacity enamel-lined porringer from the Thomas Clark and Company foundry of Wolverhampton England, c. 1839-1870. Clark patented his enamel coating in 1839 and, free of metallic oxides, it was considered the best.

The porringer is 7-7/8" in total length with a 5-3/4" diameter basin. The porringer stands 2-5/8" tall. See Fennimore Iron at Winterthur pages 106-109 for a nearly identical example (except in the half-pint size) in the Winterthur collection.

Cast-marked on the bottom Clark's Patent and 1 1/2 Pint in script. In excellent condition, including the enamel, there are no cracks or breaks in the iron.
