Scarce American Brass Ladle Attributed to Richard Lee, Jr., 1795-1830

The Lee's, known mostly for their pewter forms, also produced brass items. This ladle is attributed to Richard Lee, Jr. of Springfield Vermont, Beverly Massachusetts and Providence Rhode Island, based on marked examples, from the first third of the nineteenth century. It is generally supposed that Richard Lee, Sr. manufactured little brass production but acted as agent and peddler for the items that Jr. produced.

A wonderfully simple yet stylish form, these type ladles are found in different sizes. This 12-1/4" long ladle is in quite excellent but as-found condition, with no cracks or dents. The bowl diameter measures 3-1/4".

$350
