John Yates Birmingham England Pewter Ladle, ca. 1840

John was the head of a line of pewterers (including his more famous son James). John began working around 1805 and continued into the 1830's when James joined the firm. John left as James formed the partnership Yates and Birch. This large serving ladle is approximately 13-7/8" from end to end. While showing some usage wear, the ladle is in very good condition. The ladle is well-marked with John's earlier variant touch (compared to Cotterell 5340A)
