Jacob Whitmore American Pewter 7 7/8" Plate, 1758-1790

An excellent marked pewter plate by Jacob Whitmore of Middletown Connecticut, ca. 1758-1790, in the 7-7/8" size. This size plate is shallower than his other known 8" range plate.
The plate is in very good condition. Jacob's rose and crown touch mark (J-208) is double-struck, as is typical, on the reverse. Jacob's touches are rarely struck well most of his touches are seen only as partial touches. These are well above-average strikes.

$450
