American Painted Tin Two-Piece Waiter, ca. 1855

A wonderful American painted tinware tray (waiter) from Connecticut or New York, c. 1850-1860.

In original condition, the japanned tray retains a nice old surface.

Eight-sided (also known as a coffin lid) with an upright gallery rim and nicely decorated with stylized flowers and, somewhat rare to find, blue leaves.

Note also the painting is designed so that no matter what end the tray stands on, the mirrored flowers will not make it look upside down. The tray measures approximately 19-3/8"x 13-1/2".

$300
