Museum of the City of New York 2 volumes decorative arts
An exceptionally nice new two volume slip-cased book on the decorative arts metals collection (predominantly
silver) at the Museum of the City of New York. The collection consists of objects made, sold or owned in New York
from the 17th century to today.
At more than 1400 objects, most every form of hollow ware, flatware and jewelry is represented in the 619 pages in
two volumes. "Elegant Plate: Three Centuries of Precious Metals in New York City" is edited by Deborah Dependahl
Waters and there are essays by Kristan H. McKinsey, Gerald W.R. Ward and Deborah Dependahl Waters that focus
on various aspects of early New York City history in the trade and usage of these precious objects.
Well illustrated, including some in color, these volumes are a must for any decorative arts collector.
